We wish our board members and the participants a lot of success during the training.
More about Clinical Skills Training Program:
The Clinical Skills Training Program provides training in clinical skills development to students of the Kabul Medical University (KMU) in Afghanistan.  This program is of significant importance for the students before they start their clinical clerkships. Furthermore, with this program KEIHAN Foundation is planning to start a Clinical Skills Lab at the KMU in cooperation with the university.
The first round of the Clinical Skills Training Program started in September 2014 at the KMU. Approximately 260 students were trained by members of KEIHAN Foundation in a period of 2,5 months. The success rate was around 95%. The students, professors and the board of the university gave extreme positive feedback regarding the training.
In the future, KEIHAN Foundation wants to continue offering these types of training sessions at the KMU with more specifically tailored workshops for students being in different stages of their studies. Furthermore  we will try to add more subjects to the curriculum.
The Clinical Skills Training Program consists of the following aspects:

  • basic life support
  • airway management
  • surgical suturing
  • venipuncture
  • intravenous cannula insertion & infusion
  • intramuscular injection

The project was established in collaboration with Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), Kabul Medical University (KMU), University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU), VU University Medical Center (VUMC), Erasmus MC and IOM.
